We believe this will be a spectacular and super fun evening and OZ has provided us with a link where you can sign up

https://www.oz.com/creatorsworld?source=islfel#join

The event is free but we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible to secure a seat.

This event will definitely act as a promotion for Iceland so please forward the invite to people you know that are in the media, music or film industry.

Let´s all celebrate Iceland on Thursday April 9th!!

Icelandic National Day June 14th 2014

Hæ Hó jibbí jey og jibbí jey!! It's that time of year again!
Our annual 'Þjóðhátíð' or '17 Júní' will be celebrated at
Nansen Field Scandinavian Center on June 14th from 2-5pm
We hope to see everyone there and please spread the word - we love to see some new faces!

Every year we ask that you bring some food to the community table and we will have beer,
wine Icelandic Hot Dogs! And per usual, Icelandic candy for sale for a minimal fee.

It has been rather hot out so make sure to bring your sunscreen and maybe a picnic blanket, sunbrella and
maybe a soccer ball or a Frisbee to throw around!

We are hoping that this year there will be more home cooked food or cakes/cookies and a great idea would be to make something that reminds you of 'HOME'! Something that you used to serve back in Iceland.

Nansen Field Scandinavian Center is located on
15 Hidden Valley Road,
Rolling Hills Estates
CA 90274

Music this year will be provided by Jökull Ernir Jónsson!

Single admission is $20 and $35 for a family.

A letter from Halla Linker, former president of IAASC

March 16th 2014
Dear fellow members, families and friends.

The board of the Icelandic association in Southern California want to thank everyone who came and made our Thorrablót unforgettable. Particularly fun to have former consulate Halla Linker and her husband Francisco Aguirre as guests of honor of the evening along with our current consulate Sigurjón Sighvatsson, his wife Sigrídur Thorisdóttir & Linda Björk Bragadóttir; assistant consulate.
We had a very good attendance this year and obviously we as members to keep our association alive and have a great time on our celebrated days: 17th of June, Christmas bal and Thorrablót. It is absolutely necessary to stay collate and get together.
This particular Thorrablót was a great success and we want to take the chance to thank everyone who helped with putting the celebration together.

Our cooks came all the way from the motherland with the food, the brothers Haukur and Pétur Hermansson along with Haukur´s wife Ólöf Ásgeirsdóttir as assistant for them for the evening. Hannes Fridbjörnsson and Pétur Örn Gudmundsson provided music and entertainment throughout the evening. Thank you for all the fun times and good laughs.

We have to keep in mind that all these people take time out of their lives and away from work to fly out here to help us make this Thorrablót come together.

Sincere thanks to all the women who made pancakes with jam and cream; Jóhanna Lewis, Sigrún Hallgríms, Ella Siseki and her son Mark.
Best thanks to Erik Brazil, son of Sigrún Hallgríms. He was our security at the door and has been throughout the years.
Thanks to all who donated to our raffle: Icelandair, Icelandic Glacial, Nói Sirius, 66 North. Thank you Sigrídur Thorisdóttir for bringing all the goods in from Iceland to support the raffle.
And Helga Ólafsdóttir for her beautiful gifts, clothes from her company Lastashop and the 1-year supply of Icelandic Glacial water.
Unnur Friðriksdóttir for her very beautiful and exclusive UNNUR design of wristlets from her Icelandic design made from fish skins!

The great gals who sold the raffle tickets at the door!
Thanks to Jennifer for all her help throughout the years.

And of course everyone who helped put together our hall both on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to Mandy for all the flowers provided and her husband Francesco Artusato for the balloons and breaking down all the tables and chairs after everyone had left, also a good friend who came all the way from Seatell, Vilhjálmur Steinthórsson helped Katrín renting the gas tank and decorating on Friday, picking everyone up at the airport, the food and cooks
and especially to thank Steinar Jensson for his generous donation to our association!

And last but not least my sincerest thanks to Linda Björk Bragadóttir secretary, Gudrún Bára Floyd treasurer and Mandy Artusato web administrator.

On behalf of the board of the association,

Katrín Gunnarsd. Fabbiano,  President of IAA in S. California.
